11.40 kms in Aarey Forest, Mumbai. Weather inside the forest is at least 3 to 4 degrees lower than on the outside. Beautiful trees, fresh oxygen, serene atmosphere, chirping birds, buzzing insects, winding roads, nature at its very best. Don't know why these morons want to destroy such a beautiful forest for the purpose of their ill planned metro car shed, when there is so much land available at other place like in Kanjur Marg, plus Indian Railways has so much unutilised land. Politicians are destroying this country. 

JVLR woes!!

When the Jogeshwari Vikhroli Link Road (JVLR) was being constructed, MMRDA told us that after the JVLR is built, travel from Eastern Express Highway (EEH) to Western Express Highway (WEH) will be in 20 minutes, that's right 20 minutes flat with no stoppages whatsoever!! Bullshit!! Today it takes anything from 1 hour to 2 hours to just traverse this link road connecting the eastern suburbs of Mumbai to the western suburbs. Still the Powai section of this road is bearable. It is when you cross the SEEPZ flyover that you run into humongous traffic jam, all the way to the WEH. It just simply stops, crawls, stops, sputters, stops. There are so many traffic signals, so many criss crosses that one simply gets bored at this stretch. Nowadays it seem the Aarey road has been blocked ostensibly for a fallen bridge during the August 29 downpour, but who knows what is the real reason ? It doesn't take that much time for repair of a bridge.

finished week ending 11th july 2010 with only two runs during the week - a 7.3 km run on tuesday in slight to moderate drizzle, which completed my 100 hours of running for the year 2010 and a 13 km run on saturday at aarey forest in a hill climb, which resulted in a groin strain, due to which i had to terminate my run sooner than expected.

easy run - aarey forest - sunday, 2nd may 2010

Did an easy run of 60.44 minutes today at Aarey Forest with start of the route from inside near the tree to the entrance and back so the climb was taken on the reverse. It was pretty tough on the way back. Overall a good workout.

Went to aarey forest today for my running, after few months, it was good effort, 1 hr 3 mins. Aarey challenges you like nothing else, there are inclines aplenty leading to a good workout.

Did a long run today at Aarey Forest, total time of 92.59 minutes. Ran an inner loop upto the Quality Control laboratory, overall satisfactory, took all the uphill climbs comfortably.

Had a good run at Aarey Forest today, starting at 6.15 a.m. in extremely warm and humid conditions. In view of the overbearing heat and humidity today, could do only 62 minutes, planned to do more, but unable to continue further. I guess the weather will continue to be like this all throughout October increasing in humidity further.
